At WellBN, we believe that wellbeing, fairness, and inclusion are central to everything we do – for our patients, our team and our wider community. This means creating a workplace where staff are valued and cared for, and a surgery where everyone in our community can access healthcare safely and without barriers. Our approach ensures that everyone receives compassionate, high-quality, and equitable care.
Supporting Our Team with the Living Wage
We proudly support the Brighton Living Wage, a pay rate calculated to reflect the true cost of living in Brighton & Hove. As of 2025, this is £12.60 per hour, compared to the National Living Wage of £12.21.
Paying a living wage is about more than money — it helps our team:
- Meet essential needs such as housing, food, healthcare, and education.
- Reduce financial stress and improve mental and physical wellbeing.
- Feel valued, respected, and motivated to provide the highest quality care.
- Build stronger, more cohesive teams, reducing staff turnover and ensuring continuity of care.
We believe that when our staff are happy, secure, and supported, they can give their best to our patients — creating a healthier, stronger community for everyone.

Being a Safe Surgery for Everyone

WellBN is also proud to be a Safe Surgery, part of the Doctors of the World UK network. This means we are committed to making healthcare accessible to everyone, no matter your immigration status, nationality, or whether you have proof of address or ID.
We know that many people face barriers to accessing healthcare. Being a Safe Surgery ensures that everyone in our community can receive care safely, without fear or discrimination.
Being a Safe Surgery means:
- Anyone can register: You don’t need a passport, visa, or proof of address.
- Confidential care: We will never share your information with immigration authorities.
- Support for everyone: Refugees, asylum seekers, undocumented migrants, and other vulnerable people are welcome.
- Language support: Interpretation services are available to help you communicate with our team.
- A welcoming environment: Our staff are trained to understand and support the healthcare needs of all patients.
Celebrating Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion

WellBN is also proud of our dedication to diversity, equality, and inclusion, recognised through a recent Inclusion Award.
Our commitment ensures that every patient receives care and support with respect, dignity, and understanding, no matter their background or identity.
- Patient diversity: We care for people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, and cultural backgrounds, including TNBI (transgender, non-binary, intersex) patients, LGBTQ+ communities, refugees, and patients from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
- Staff diversity: Our workforce reflects the communities we serve, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Policies and training: All staff complete diversity training, and our lead partner has undertaken extensive training in equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Specialised services: We provide support for transgender patients and ADHD diagnosis and treatment, addressing gaps in local healthcare services.
Our Commitment
At WellBN, we understand that staff wellbeing, patient care, and community inclusion are interconnected. By supporting the Brighton Living Wage, maintaining our Safe Surgery status, and celebrating diversity and inclusion, we create an environment where:
- Staff can thrive and bring their best selves to work.
- Patients can access safe, compassionate, and equitable care.
- Our community benefits from a stronger, fairer, and healthier healthcare service.
