How libraries are supporting their community’s health and wellbeing
Social prescribing presents an incredible opportunity for those experiencing isolation to reconnect with their local community. Nevertheless, link workers require accessible, safe and affordable facilities to refer individuals to, in order for social prescribing to have a positive impact.
In this regard, libraries play a crucial role in driving social prescribing at a local level. Libraries are currently supporting and facilitating activities related to social prescribing nationwide, working closely with healthcare professionals to establish stronger connections between health and community inclusion.
NASP recently visited the Jubilee library in Brighton to witness librarians, facilitators and link workers working in unison to improve the overall health of their community through social prescribing.
