Lighthouse is a charity that supports artists who use digital technology in their work and helps people find routes into and succeed within the creative & cultural industries. From our central Brighton venue, we offer education and talent development programmes, commission artists to make and present new work, and produce exhibitions, talks and residencies.
On 19 October Lighthouse is launching the Brighton edition of Dreamy Place with an immersive all-day event at Fabrica. It’s a new-branded iteration of Brighton Digital Festival featuring a seven-day programme of art, creative tech and digital culture taking place in Brighton & Hove and Crawley.
We have an afternoon performance of Whose Anthem is it Anyway? Comedian Charlie George and our house band front this new show by artist Amartey Golding. Together with the audience, they’ll attempt to tackle the impossible task of delivering a new national anthem for England.
Addressing the national identity crisis that many in the country – and in the room – will be able to relate to, this raucous event will improvise, working with the audience and technology to create a “new national anthem.” Can comedian Charlie George find a way to bring the room, if not the nation, together to create a song that represents what we’re really about?
You can find full info on the event booking page here. The show is o Thursday 19 October. Doors open at 12.30 pm and the show starts at 1pm. Tickets are general admission £10 or Pay As You Feel. We also offer a 25% group booking discount.
